Blending Zen and Yoga
Finding Strength in Our Stillness
A lot is talked about in the ‘mind-body connection’, but ultimately it is simple: the quality of our minds and bodies are interdependent. Just as we cannot run a marathon in the depths of depression, neither can our minds find ease in an unhealthy body. Mindfulness requires the exercising of both to clear blockages in our bodies and tune our minds towards calm and ease.
This is where mindful movement comes in. Christian blends the Yoga and Zen traditions, focusing on slow, strong, mindful movement to explore our present experience. Every part of the practice is an invitation to explore what really is for us, here and now. Each movement is an opportunity to enquire within, to find clarity outside the day-to-day rush, and to build stronger physical and mental foundations to take into the rest of our lives.
Practice With Me
As an experienced teacher, Christian has trained in the Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Hatha and Elemental Yin traditions. Classes and one-to-ones include:
-
A focus on alignment, simplicity of slow and strong movement, and a razor focus on the present moment experience.
-
Blending the depth of Hatha with the flow of Vinyasa for longer holds, depth in breath, and creative sequences.
-
Dynamic sequences to build heat and stimulate the flow of prana in flowing sequences.
-
Restorative Yin practices aligned to the Ayurvedic Elements to promote internal balance.
