Blending Zen and Yoga

Finding Strength in Our Stillness

A lot is talked about in the ‘mind-body connection’, but ultimately it is simple: the quality of our minds and bodies are interdependent. Just as we cannot run a marathon in the depths of depression, neither can our minds find ease in an unhealthy body. Mindfulness requires the exercising of both to clear blockages in our bodies and tune our minds towards calm and ease.

This is where mindful movement comes in. Christian blends the Yoga and Zen traditions, focusing on slow, strong, mindful movement to explore our present experience. Every part of the practice is an invitation to explore what really is for us, here and now. Each movement is an opportunity to enquire within, to find clarity outside the day-to-day rush, and to build stronger physical and mental foundations to take into the rest of our lives.

  • I cannot recommend Christian’s classes highly enough - I’ve been practicing for 5 years now, but still learn something new in each of Christian’s classes. Christian is awesome!

  • Christian’s classes are both challenging and rewarding, I leave class feeling rejuvenated each time. My yoga has got stronger and more natural the more I have worked with Christian, and I recommend his classes to anyone looking to go further with their yoga.

  • I've been attending Christian’s classes for over two years now, I even moved with him when he changed studios! I haven’t found many teachers like Christian, his classes are always fun, balanced and varied, without taking things too seriously. I like how down-to-earth the whole process is with Christian.

  • I started to practice yoga 4 years ago mainly as exercise, and always found it hard to manage my breathing with the movement. When I started joining Christian’s classes, it all started to click, and I started to see how yoga can be much more than exercise. His classes are everything - calm, grounded, challenging, upbeat - all at once. I feel much stronger and more aligned thanks to these classes.
